This gum-resin has a fragrant, peculiar odour; and bitter aromatic taste. it is in reddish- yellow, light, brittle, irregular tears; Partially soluble in distilled water when aided by friction. S. G. 1360. It is stimulant; and has been used in cachectic affections, humoral asthma, chronic bronchitis, &c.
