Mongoose \Mon"goose\, Mongoos \Mon"goos\, n. (Zo["o]l.)
A species of ichneumon (Herpestes griseus), native of
India. Applied also to other allied species, as the African
banded mongoose (Crossarchus fasciatus). [Written also
mungoose, mungoos, mungous.]
