A French author and republican politician; born in Paris, March 17, 1754; executed Nov. 8, 1793. She imbibed republican ideas from Rousseau and her classical readings, and her salon was the meeting-place of the Girondist party. She is well known for her "Memoirs", written in prison, and edited by Dauban (1864); as were her "Letters" (1869).
