An American poet and prose-writer; born in Pomfret, Conn., April 10, 1835. She is one of the prominent literary women of Boston, and the author of many books, in which are included: "This, That, and the Other" (1854), stories, essays, and poems; "Bedtime Stories for Children" (1873); "Swallow-Flights, and Other Poems" (1878); "Ourselves and Our Neighbors" (1887); "Some Women's Hearts" (1888); and "In the Garden of Dreams, Lyrics, and Sonnets". D. 1908.
