A cestode worm of the order Cyclophyllideae, the family Hymenolepinidae, and the genus Hymenolepis. The family includes several genera, such as H. Diminuta, occasionally infesting children, and H. Nana, or the dwarf tapeworm of children. H. Flavopuncta. See Taenia flavopuncta, under tenia.
