Water gruel. This is made as follows: - Take three ounces of grits; wash them well in cold water, and, having poured off the fluid, put them into four pints of fresh water, and boil slowly until the water is reduced one-half; then strain through a sieve. It is a good demulcent, and is employed also as a vehicle for clysters.
