A condition of unusual furrowing of the dorsum of the tongue. The central furrow is deepened, and radiating from it there are numerous parallel deep furrows which may resemble roughly the branches of a tree. The tongue looks as though too large for its mucous covering. The appearance is most often compared to that of the skin of the scrotum when contracted by cold.
