-
A term applied to a fracture of the lower extremity of the radius, which commences at the articular surface, and extends upwards for an inch or more, to terminate on the dorsal aspect. Owing to the extensor muscles drawing up the separated portion of the bone, and with it the carpus, a deformity results, which has been confounded with simple dislocation. In consequence of the fracture having been well described by Dr. John Rhea Barton, of Philadelphia, it is often called after him.
