A tube of metal or hard rubber, 6 to 7 in. long and from 1 to 3.5 mm. in diameter, slightly curved at one end; the curved part (beak) is from 2 to 2.5 ctm. long. The other end is funnel-shaped to receive the nozzle of an inflating bag. It is passed into the eustachian tube through the nose, or occasionally through the mouth.
