A Czech poet; born at Kardasch-Rzetschitz, Jan. 14, 1813; died at Cracow, March 1881. He is one of the foremost of Bohemian lyrists, and his "Love Songs" in particular are held in great popular favor. He also wrote the didactic poem "The Father's Wisdom".
