A French novelist, brother of Alphonse D.; born at Nimes, May 31, 1837. His most notable novels are: "The Venus of Gordes"; "The Bloom of Sin"; "Martha". He is author of an autobiographical sketch, "My Brother and Myself" (1882); and has written some historical sketches, as a "History of the Royalist Conspiracies in the South during the Revolution"; "History of the Emigration".
