An English writer and the keeper of Egyptian and Assyrian antiquities in the British Museum; born in 18-. He has published over 75 books on Egyptian, Assyrian and various historic subjects, as well as numerous translations, text-books and guides. Among his works are: "Babylonian Life and History" (1884); "The Dwellers on the Nile" (1885); "History of Alexander the Great" (1889); "A Book of the Dead" (1895); "A History of Egypt" (8 vols.); "The Gods of Egypt".
