This, generally consists of from half a pint to a pint of the Infusum Tabaci. It is employed in cases of strangulated hernia; but occasionally acts as a fatal poison when given in this way. The smoke of tobacco is sometimes thrown up the rectum to produce the same medicinal effects as the infusion.
