A noted American Universalist divine and essayist; born at Union Village, N. Y., Dec. 29, 1814; died in New York, his long-time residence, Dec. 27, 1880. An effective preacher and lecturer, he was one of the powers for good in his day. He wrote: "Moral Aspects of City Life" (1853); "True Manliness" (1854); "Crown of Thorns"; etc.
