Deficiency of galactosyl- 1- phosphate uridyltransferase ( GALACTOSE- 1- PHOSPHATE URIDYL- TRANSFERASE DEFICIENCY DISEASE) causes an error in galactose metabolism called GALACTOSEMIA, resulting in elevations of galactose in the blood.
