Called after their discoverer. Two small ovoid groups of mucous, reddish follicles, situate behind the bulb of the urethra, before the prostate, the excretory ducts of which open into the bulbous portion of the urethra. They are also called Glandulae anteprostatae, and G. prostatae inferiores. The terms anterior prostate, and anteprostatic gland, are generally, however, given to a third glandular body, occasionally found in front of, and between, Cowpers glands.
