(CSR) A register in most CPUs which storesadditional information about the results of machineinstructions, e.g. comparisons. It usually consists ofseveral independent flags such as carry, overflow andzero. The CSR is chiefly used to determine the outcome ofconditional branch instructions or other forms ofconditional execution.
