A muscle consisting of two portions- one of which is transverse in its direction, and, in consequence of its having been particularly described by Mr. Guthrie, has been called Guthries muscle. It arises from the ramus of the ischium, and passe inwards to embrace the membranous urethra. The other portion is perpendicular, descending from the pubis and passing down to be inserted into the transverse portion of the muscle; - Pubio-urethralis. This portion has been considered by many to be only the anterior fibres of the levator ani; and having been described by Mr. Wilson, it has been called Wilsons muscle.
