An instrument from compressing the femoral artery, invented by Dupuytren. It is constructed on the same principles as the tourniquet of J. L. Petit, from which it only differs in this respect; - that, instead of being maintained in its place by a strap, which always compresses more or less the circumference of the limb, the two pads are placed at the extremities of a semicircle of steel, which, by passing from one to the other without touching the parts, limits the pressure to two opposite points of the thigh, and permits the collateral circulation to go on.
