Prepared by exhausting, by displacement, a pound of coarsely-powdered cantharides with a pound of sulphuric ether, and three ounces of acetic ether. In two ounces of this saturated solution of cantharides, twenty-five grains of gun-cotton are dissolved. By painting the surface with a little of this solution, vesication is produced, as with the plaster of cantharides.
