An American journalist and writer of verse; born in Yates County, N. Y., 1826. He was originally a lawyer, afterwards editor of the Cincinnati Times and the Ohio State Journal. He has written: "Ke-u-ka, etc". (1855); "Lyrics of the Ideal and the Real\" (1888). His best-known poem is probably "The Rain upon the Roof". He died in 1904.
