A Danish poet (1690-1752). His "Satires" on his age, modeled on Juvenal, give him eminent rank among the native poets. He wrote three volumes of "Philological Amenities or Various Discourses", containing a mass of highly interesting observations on the affairs of the time. His translation of Ovid's "Tristia" also is worthy of mention.
