(1760-1839) publisher, came to Philadelphia from Ireland in 1784. In 1796 was a founder of the first Sunday-school Society. In 1822 he published "Essays on Political Economy," followed by numerous tracts in the interest of protection. His "Olive Branch" was an important and influential pamphlet.
