This is made by mixing concentrated alcoholic solutions of iodine and potassa, until the former loses its colour; a solution is obtained from which water throws down a yellow precipitate-the sesqui-iodide of carbon. It has been used in enlarged glands and in some cutaneous affections, applied externally, (zss to zvj of cerate). See Iodoform.
