Rumphius has given this name to calculous concretions, found in the interior of certain cocoa-nuts. The cocoa-tree itself the Malays call Calappa. These stones are, likewise, termed Vegetable Bezoards. The Malays attribute potent virtues to them, and wear them as amulets.
