A test for hyperglycemia; a smear of blood is made from the suspected person and another, for control, from a healthy person; the smears are heated to 130Â° C., and when cool treated with a 1 per cent. aqueous solution of Congo red; the normal blood stains red, the diabetic blood takes a yellow tint or does not stain at all.
