Bistort \Bis"tort\, n. [L. bis + tortus, p. p. of torquere to twist: cf. F. bistorte.]

(Bot.) An herbaceous plant of the genus Polygonum, section Bistorta; snakeweed; adderwort. Its root is used in medicine as an astringent.
