A celebrated Spanish poet; born 1390 (?); died about 1460. He is the best of all the Catalan poets. Of his works now extant are ninety-three "Love Songs"; eight "Laments"; fourteen "Moral Poems"; a fine "Song of Devotion"; etc. He has been called "the Petrarch of Catalonia". (Latest edition of his works, Barcelona, 1884.)
