A Spanish poet, dramatist, and critic; born in Granada, June 16, 1816 (not 1817). A long life devoted to literary studies has resulted in "The Lovers' Punishment" (1838), a comedy; "Odes and Romances" (1842), a collection of verse; a critical edition of the works of Francisco de Quevedo; and many other performances as brilliant. D. 1894.
