An object-oriented programming system developedby a team led by Professor Santosh Shrivastava at theUniversity of Newcastle, implemented entirely in C++.Arjuna provides a set of tools for the construction offault-tolerant distributed applications. It exploitsfeatures found in most object-oriented languages (such asinheritance) and only requires a limited set of systemcapabilities commonly found in conventional operatingsystems. Arjuna provides the programmer with classes thatimplement atomic transactions, object level recovery, concurrency control and persistence. The system isportable, modular and flexible; the system software has beenavailable via FTP since 1992. (http://arjuna.ncl.ac.uk/).
