An accidental opening which gives issue to the whole or to a part of the faeces. It may be owing to a wound, or, which is more common, to gangrene attacking the intestine in a hernial sac. This term is also employed, as well as Anus devie, devious anus, to the case where the anus, instead of being in its natural situation, is in some neighbouring cavity, as the bladder, vagina, etc.
