A French litterateur; born at Paris, February 1819; died July 26, 1868. Besides contributions to many journals, he published two books of verse, "At the Bottom of the Glass" (1854) and "The Poem of Death" (1866); and several plays, including "The Merchant in Spite of Himself" (1858); "An Upstart" (1859); "Our Ancestors" (1859).
