A short, flat, triangular muscle, which arises from the anterior surface of the os scaphoides and the annular ligament of the carpus, and terminates at the outside of the upper extremity of the first phalanx of the thumb. A particular portion, on the inner side of this muscle, is called, by Albinus, Abductor brevis alter.
